This variety usually has a distinctive fruity taste and aroma. These wines produce a full bodied, dry table wine. It can be quite astringent in its youth, but with some aging it can achieve a velvety richness. Cabernet Sauvignon can be blended with Merlot to speed up the aging process. This variety responds well to oak aging and has managed to become the great all-purpose, omnipresent red wine of the World.
